• Do you make house calls?
Yes, we do make house calls. We also have a retail location where you can drop
off your computer for repair. The only real difference is that we charge a $25 service call fee to come to your location and we are generally more generous
with billing when the computer is in our shop as we can work on several at
once whereas if we are at your location then we have to bill for all the time
that we are there. We also offer some flat-rate plans for services performed
at our shop.

• How much can I expect to pay?
This depends on how many systems and how many issues you want us to resolve
during a call or shop visit. On average, most of our jobs are resolved in 2
hours or less. Normal exceptions to this are setting up & troubleshooting
Fileservers & Networks. Troubleshooting proprietary software issues can
also take considerably longer, but for the home user most issues are resolved
for $175 or less plus any necessary parts. Data transfer & recovery varies
with each job due to complexity & amount of data.

• Do you work on laptops?
Yes, we happily work on LOTS of laptops. We hear from our customers all the
time that some service shops in the area won't work on laptops or will
send them away for service, often requiring several weeks turnaround time.
We work on all laptops here in our shop.

• Should I turn my computer off or leave it on?
Besides the cost of electricity to run the computer 24/7 it really comes down
to personal choice. There are two theories out there. The first is that if you
leave the computer on then the components will wear out from being used all the
time. The second is that turning the computer on and off will put increased
stress on the components as they heat up and cool off and that this will
decrease their life expectancy. Personally, I leave my computers on 24/7 and
just turn off the monitor. I would recommend restarting your computer at least
once a week if you do this to maintain the stability of your Operating System.
My recommendation would be to leave the computer on if you use it daily or
several times a day. If you only use it once or twice a week then you might
as well save the electricity. Please keep in mind that depending on your
system you might have software on your machine that will function better if
your machine is left on and connected to the Internet 24/7. These include some
antivirus, backup and update programs.
